This brightly painted, punk rock looking cyclocross bike from Squid Bikes has been getting a lot of attention at the Sea Otter Classic. People are asking who painted it, how it was painted and where they can get one. Turns out, this bike was custom painted by its owner.
In fact, every Squid Bike is custom painted by its owner, which is what makes the company so unique. Rider owned by a crew of funloving folks from Sacramento, Squid Bikes sources handmade alloy frames from legendary builder Ventana Cycles in cantilever or disc brake and traditional 135mm QR or 142×12 through axle design with room for up to 40mm rear tires. The frames are then sold to the customer as a raw blank slate. Squid calls the model their Rattlecan DIYFS (as in, do it your f*cking self), and encourages its buyers to get creative with the paint.

Squid has also developed a partnership with Spray.Bike, a company from Greece that manufactures acrylic rattlecan paint perfect for this sort of program.
